UX/UI CONTENT DESIGN
Website development
As Senior Digital Designer working for an online bookseller, I was tasked with redesigning their website that was visually out dated and unusable on various devices. Initially I started by mapping out a clear, scalable information architecture in Miro, using a tree diagram that evolved through several rounds of stakeholder input. Then I sketched out low fidelity designs on paper. Working with Bristol-based e-commerce developers, The Pixel, I developed high fidelity wire-frames in Adobe XD. I used my knowledge of core graphic design principles to inform my work using hierarchical typesetting, colour theory based on the contrast requirements in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), iconography, adaptable grid structures for desktop and mobile. All of this was to help the viewer navigate the design space and to emphasize key areas and to support comprehension. Initially working iteratively with senior stakeholders, I adapted the layouts to ensure simplicity for all users. I then tested the user journeys with a selection of co-workers in the company. Using dummy credit cards, they were able to simulate customer use and flag any pain points in the user journey. This was all done on a sandbox site. Once confident that these problems had been resolved the site was launched with minimum disruption. The results were increased customer traffic and an uplift in sales.
